આ    function  ભૂતકાળમાં બનેલી ઘટનાઓનો નિર્દેશ કરવા વપરાય છે.  

સાદો ભૂતકાળ વિધાન વાક્ય  

Mr. Patel              bought                a new house            last month.     

કર્તા     +  ભૂતકાળ ક્રિયાપદ   +      કર્મ       +       અન્ય      

 

સાદો ભૂતકાળ  નકાર  વાક્ય  

Mr. Patel       did not            buy           a new house       last month.     

કર્તા      +   did not  + મૂળ રૂપ   +      કર્મ      +     અન્ય      

 

ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ   વિધાન વાક્ય  

Mr. Patel          was                  buying                   a new house.

કર્તા      + was / were   + ingવાળું ક્રિયાપદ  +     કર્મ      +    અન્ય

 

When નો ઉપયોગ   

When we reached there ,  he was watching t.v.

When I came , she was reading a book.

When the teacher was teaching , the bell rang.

 

While નો ઉપયોગ   

I saw an accident while I was crossing the road.

The snake came , while the boy was playing.

While Raj was reading a book , I called him.
